Let Boot Camp Rev Up Your Weight Loss Results

Looking for outstanding results with weight loss? Been trying the fad diets but can't seem to get a handle on some serious and lasting weight loss? The truth is if you are someone who has tried these over the counter diets and found that you are not losing weight, it is time to consider boot camp for major weight loss that is permanent and lasting. These boot camp locations are design to get you into a program that provides guidance and instruction on how to maximize your personal fitness and weight loss goals. Whether you have just a few recent pounds to take off or you've been overweight all your life, a fitness camp can pave the road to success.

Obesity knows no boundaries in terms of age. As well as this, losing weight also knows no boundaries in terms of age or size - however, it does require a great deal of discipline. Discipline can be best served by people who work in a military style environment. That is why it is called a boot camp. Traditionally, this form of camp may inspire razor wire, men with guns and massive days that are filled with intense training followed by only a couple of hours sleep. This imagery should not be applied to a fitness boot camp.

If you're searching for a method to jump start a new life so that positive results become a right rather than a privilege; consider a fitness boot camp. It may drain you physically for the first few days, however this is just your body getting back into gear after a life of sloth. It will make you feel full of pride after a week. You will have accomplished something and regained control of your life. The process doesn't stop here however and you have a long and winding road ahead of you.

There are many different boot camps on the market today so don't expect to be able to go out and just jump into one without doing your homework. Self Confidence, Body Image and Weight Loss - 5 Weight Loss Tips That Work

Often I get asked by my clients who come for help to lose weight - "Why can't I lose weight - and keep it off?" This seems to be a common problem, and most people struggling with weight loss go from one diet to the next in the hope of finding that special one that will do the trick. But as you may have guessed already if you've been down that track many times - it is not the diet that does not work, an uncontrollable compulsion deep within you makes you overeat time and again, no matter how determined you are.

What makes us want to lose weight in the first place? Health concerns, the wish to be fit and healthy? Let's be real here, these are the usual reasons and alibis, but deep down we don't give a hoot about health and fitness if we could get social acceptance the way we are - overweight or not. And the cruel reality is - in this society ruled by advertisements and TV programs full of beautiful, slim people we get judged by the way we look. And that has a serious impact on our Body Image.

Body Image is the way we see ourselves, and most overweight people suffer from a very low body image. We see ourselves much worse than the outside world. We put ourselves down and curse ourselves for being overweight, weak and unattractive. As we are confronted with this image every day this is deeply ingrained in our mind. No wonder a quick diet can't fix that.

Our subconscious mind will do whatever it takes to bring us back to what we were used to and comfortable with - being overweight. And it always wins! Unless you know how to teach it to see yourself in a new, a different way.

1 - Breaking through the negative thinking patterns associated with our body image is the first step in overcoming the old programming that forces you to overeat. You can use Self Hypnosis, Neuro Linguistic Programming or my Social Reprogramming Technique to overcome negativity.

2 - Seeing yourself in a different light is the second step, and the easiest way is to manipulate a photo of yourself with Photoshop or a similar program so you have the slim, attractive body you desire. Have several prints in prominent places around your house and each time you see it,say to yourself "That's me, I am slim and attractive". Make sure you say this in the present tense, it works.

3 - Get rid of your scales once and for all. Scales give you a wrong indication of your weight anyway, as most weight-loss through dieting is due to water and muscle loss. The scales will not give you happiness, they make you miserable, so avoid them at all cost. You don't need them.

4 - Write a "Count Your Blessings" sheet. By writing down all the things you are happy and proud about and reading it out aloud to yourself in the morning and in the evening you are re-programming your subconscious mind to accept you as a happy, confident, balanced person. This will help overcome your self-doubt. Keep adding to this list every day.

5 - Establish very clear, and time-bound goals. Only then will your weight-loss plans work successfully, because you are giving your subconscious mind a clear order and path to follow in fulfilling your weight loss dream. Without it it's inevitable that you gain weight again.

Accept that there are real, valid reasons why you are overweight. Only 5% of people really do have a physical or medically proven reason for weight gain, the rest of us have to accept that we are responsible for ourselves, whether we like this nor not. This means we can do something about it. Even if you had massive weight loss through stomach stapling or a gastric bypass you will have to address the underlying causes of what compelled you to overeat in the first place. Otherwise you are in serious danger of your subconscious mind seeking another avenue to engage in compulsive behaviour, replacing your previous overeating with another compulsion. This needs to be addressed if you want to avoid severe mood swings, self-doubt, and depression.

Exercise, Diet And Weight Loss For The Breast Feeding Mom

It's normal for a woman to be concerned about such things as weight loss and fitness, particularly after a pregnancy and during the breast feeding period. However, many new moms also want to know how diet, exercise, and a weight loss program will affect their ability to effectively breast feed their baby. Here's a few basic bits of data on the subject. For specific advice concerning you, your baby, and your breast feeding program, talk to your doctor.

Diet

While your particular diet has less impact on the breast milk you provide your baby than you might think, it is important for YOU to be healthy during this period. There is going to be a lot of stress, a lot of lost sleep, and it will be a difficult time to add the burden of "going on a diet" to everything else. The last thing you need at this time is more stress, and trying to maintain your energy level and enjoy your new baby while you are cutting your own personal nutrition is not a good choice. Most "diets", particularly those of the fad sort, tend to shortchange the dieter in terms of necessary nutrition, and even if this does not directly affect your baby, it affects you, and what affects you can affect your child.

If you must "diet" as part of your personal weight loss plan, look into NutriSystem, the South Beach Diet, Weight Watchers, or similar weight loss programs as they stress proper nutrition, exercise, AND have a support mechanism which will put your in contact with others like yourself...often including new moms! If you don't want to get involved with such organized program, then at least make sure that you are following a healthy eating plan and getting regular moderate exercise.

Exercise

It is normally perfectly okay to exercise during the breast feeding period. Some research has indicated that regular moderate exercise may actually help milk production. As always, in the face of particular circumstances, check with your doctor first. Here's a few things you might want to think about.

One thing that is always a consideration but which is even more important at this time is to protect your breasts. Injury or stress to them can result in conditions such as infection or mastitis which could interfere with your ability to feed your baby and might even result in more extreme health problems. So, always start with a good fitting, comfortable, effective support bra. Avoid exercises which may cause stress to the breasts or pressure on, or impact to, the breasts. Here's where I make my usual plug that for many women, yoga is an excellent fitness choice.

If you were previously an exerciser, ease back into your routine. You may have to modify your routine, providing low-impact alternatives to your familiar high-impact exercises. Don't overdo it. Stick to your healthy eating plan, and drink lots of fluids. Nurse before exercising. It's no good to be hot and sweaty, or in the middle of your favorite exercise routine and have to stop everything to take care of a hungry baby.

Exercise does not have to be a scheduled rigid routine. That walk with your new baby in the stroller may be just the physical activity you both need at the moment. Of course, having to stop for all the compliments on your beautiful new child may interrupt the proceedings a bit.

Weight Loss

After your pregnancy, you will certainly be interested in losing the weight that seems to have appeared from nowhere. As always, the key to weight loss is going to hinge on two main points; physical activity and nutrition. If you are following some of the advice above, are getting some regular moderate exercise and have a healthy eating plan firmly in place, there is a good chance that most of that unwanted weight will disappear. However, if it is not going away fast enough, or that last little bit is sticking around, maybe you will need to ramp up your exercise a bit. However, stick with the plan, make your adjustments in bite-size increments, and don't overdo it.

After all, you're getting healthy for two.

Fat Loss and Weight Loss - Is There a Difference?

The answer would surprise you. It is yes. Both are different. If you lose weight, it does mean that you are also losing fat. It is true the other way round also; if you are losing fat does not mean that you are losing weight.

You body gets energy to function from the food you eat. This energy is counted in terms of calories, but that you already know. Now, if you eat more than required then the excess calories are stored in your body in the form of fat. Therefore, if you do not eat enough food to last you for the day then you will end up losing weight. At the same time, you also will lose energy. Now, you might be thinking that to make up for the energy deficiency, your body will use up the stored fat. However, it is not so. The body uses up proteins as well as carbohydrates instead of the fat.

Where do these carbohydrates and proteins come from? Well, they come from your muscles. So, now while you are not losing any fat, you are actually losing whatever little muscle mass you had; time to say your goodbyes to that beautiful toned look. In addition to this, all of this also causes your metabolism to slow down. This results in slow or even no burning of fat. Once your metabolism slows down, your body is adjusted to the new lifestyle of getting less energy. As a result, whatever initial weight loss you had experienced (because of the muscle loss), will also stop and you will no longer lose any weight.

You should know that the weight that you initially lost was mainly water weight. You will easily gain this weight back, but when you gain back, it will be in fat form. The reason the initial weight loss is water weight is because the carbohydrate and proteins that you lost initially actually retain water in their cells.

Now, if you combine exercise with starving yourself, you cannot get any dumber. The reason is that you will burn more calories through exercise and therefore your body will need more energy, which it is obviously not getting because of your less food intake. Now you know where the energy will come from. This way your body will go into starvation mode, in which it keeps storing all the food you eat in the fat form because it is unsure about the next time you will feed it.

Therefore, the smart thing to do is to get off that starvation diet and treat yourself with a balanced diet consisting of all essential nutrients. Combine that with exercises that will rev up your metabolism and increase your oxygen needs. That is the smart way of staying fit and healthy.

Weight Loss Retreats and Detox Retreats: 3 Reasons They Might Be Right for You

Losing weight has become a common goal for people all over the world. However, for many people, it's often difficult to stick to an exercise and diet routine for a variety of reasons, one of the biggest being a lack of motivation. For many, hitting the treadmill at the gym is simply boring and there's little interest or motivation to stick with it.

If losing weight is on your list of goals, you may want to consider fitness getaways such as detox retreats or weight loss retreats, spas or bootcamps. While all of these types of retreats have different benefits, there are some common factors among all of them which make them an excellent choice for kicking off your weight loss program:

You have no choice but to be motivated.

Perhaps one of the biggest advantages of attending weight loss retreats is that, once you're there, it's practically impossible for you not to stick with the program. Your daily meals and exercise programs are planned for you, you're surrounded by health care professionals and you have the support of other attendees who all have similar health and fitness goals. You simply can't get away with excuses and tell yourself that it's OK to skip the gym!

Retreats provide an environment that's conducive to wellness and weight loss.

Another key factor in the success of fitness getaways is that the amount of distractions or unhealthy choices available to you is nearly eliminated. You can't rummage in the kitchen for chocolate, veg out in front of the boob tube instead of hitting the gym or use the excuse of having to clean the house for not working out.

Also, very often, detox retreats and weight loss retreats, spas and bootcamps are set in beautiful and serene environments. Whether your retreat is at a beach in California or in the mountains of the Carolinas, it will be a setting that is conducive to being healthy.

Retreats can be more enjoyable than traditional weight loss methods.

It's hard to stick with a program that you don't enjoy. Taking part in a fitness getaway can serve as an exciting alternative to your regular exercise routine, diet plan or local gym facility. It provides a new setting where your health is the number one priority and you're surrounded by a group of people who are sharing the same experience with you. In many cases these retreats often supplement workouts and exercise routines with some pampering like massages, yoga classes or other services which are complimentary to your weight loss program. Another benefit is that the hard work of researching and planning exercises and meals is done for you by the facility! You simply have to participate.

All of these fitness getaways can provide a fun, exciting and effective alternative to your run of the mill gym. With the right tools and programs designed not only to help you shed unnecessary pounds but also maintain an ongoing healthy lifestyle long after your visit, a detox or weight loss retreat can be an ideal way to high your weight loss program into high gear.
