Health Tips and Weight Loss For Teens

The biggest mistake you can make in your teens or early twenties is to believe that you can trash your body now and then "make up for it" later. It is how well you look after your body today that will determine your health in your thirties and beyond. Healthy living and achieving weight loss for teens is all about paying attention to certain areas of your life:

Eating Habits

You really need to take a good honest look at your eating habits. If you regularly eat take-out meals such as pizza, french fries, doughnuts and pastries etc, you are clogging up your arteries with plaque. Severe plaque build up puts you at risk of heart disease especially once you reach forty or fifty. Eliminating the fatty and sugary foods from your diet will help protect you from this restricting disease as well as having you looking leaner in that favourite outfit.

Health For Teens

A healthy diet is a combination of healthy, nutritious foods in moderation. You should try to eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, lean protein such as chicken and fish, wholegrain breads and cereals, low fat dairy foods and only healthy monounsaturated fats such as olive oil or nuts and seeds. Keep the use of salt to a minimum and be sure to drink up to 8 glasses of water per day.

Make sure you don't skip breakfast. A healthy breakfast every morning controls your appetite and is vital for staying fit in the long term. In addition, start taking a multivitamin each day to ensure you get all the vitamins and minerals you need.

Social Life

Keep your social life healthy. Try to minimise the amount of alcohol you drink. Better still, drink lower alcohol drinks or just plain soda water when partying. Alcohol contributes to the storage of belly fat and also increases your appetite. Also, when you consume alcohol together with fatty foods your body burns less calories and stores more fat.

Exercising Habits

Try to be more active in your everyday life. Find a sport or activity that you like to do and do it regularly. Start walking more often or even hang out with sporty friends that inspire you. Cut your television viewing time in half. You'll be surprised by how much time you spend sitting in front of a TV. Fill up that time being active and you will be much thinner and healthier as a result. Even just a little regular exercise every week will make an improvement. Not only will it help control your appetite, it will also help you sleep better, reduce stress and build your self-esteem.

Healthy Body Image

So many young women and young men today hate their bodies. With so many messages from the media and society to look 'skinny' and beautiful, it is no wonder that they judge themselves as imperfect. To respect your body, adopt a healthy-looking role model who is fit and has real curves. Celebrities such as J.Lo and Beyonce, Tyra Banks, are all great examples of how you can be glowing with health and be sexy without looking like a sickly stick figure.

Taking care of your body now will guarantee you have a healthy, fit, and sexy body that will turn heads for many years to come. Best of all, eating well and moving your body are the best natural self confidence builders you can have for your entire life.
